...

In the midst of winter, and today being a snow 'storm' in my town, many think of the warmer days. Today I am thinking of our wonderful tirps to Pennsylvania: riding bikes on Pine Creek, stargazing with our friends, camping by the rambling brooks, riding on amazing, restored trains, exploring 'rim rocks' and dams surrounded by wonderful, mysterious and magical hills. All such activities done in the summer. Amazing that in summer, not many dream of winter-ludes, huh?

Let's dream of a few summer-ludes and enjoy some videos and snaps from warmer days to come again.

Trying myself to recreate the culture I experienced in Tamil Nadu, India that holds a soft spot in my heart, I continue to look for Tamil bloggers based in America for inspiration on creating the mood, spirit and physical-look of India and Hindu culture here in America. In that search, I have found and been overwhelmingly influenced by NRI Maami.

With her permission, I have created a wonderful photo story of her expressions of Indian and Tamil culture here in America- including celebrations of Navarathri (including tutorial on how to create golu steps), Diwali, Avan Avittam, Ganesh Chathurthi, Krishna Jayanthi and others. Thank you for sharing your experiences with the world, NRI Maami.

We have a lot to learn about creating and recreating a life of passion and interest from you!

Have you ever watched a feel good Hindi movie? Many of them have a marriage, not only of the bride and groom, but the family. Often when Indian immigrants marry in America, whether it's to other Indians or to non-Indians, the extended family comes over to stay, not only to attend the wedding, but may become part of the honeymoon too! Read our experiences...

Last week, I talked about the placebo effect. I want to share a story about how a homeopathic tablet opened up opportunity for match making. Some call the pill a placebo, but maybe the real placebo was the hope that the pill put back into their lives, leading to a different energetic level that allowed more possibility.

One fine day, while in Trivandrum this year, it rained heavily. We could not move outside. Since we had access to the Sainik school library materials, I spent some time reading an Indian ladies magazine, Femina. I particularly like to read the household tips section as the ladies submit many tips that are easy to do and based on natural cures (rather than using chemicals). I am sharing some here with you. I believe they are from the July 2007 issue, but unsure. They are listed in no particular order.
