From America to India and bringing India to America- More Bio Here

Jennifer Kumar, also known as Jayanthi, has been creating and maintaining a website about India, Hinduism, and spirituality since 1997. Jennifer has had the extraordinary experience of living two years in Chennai, India as a college student. Jennifer was the first American to earn a Master’s degree in Social Work from Madras Christian College. Currently, Jennifer lives in America with her Malayalee husband, Krishna. Jennifer maintains a connection with South India, visiting family in Kerala with Krishna on a yearly basis. Jennifer enjoys spending time with friends, family, coordinating and planning events, creating things with her hands (cooking, soap making, beadwork, sewing, etc.). Jennifer is currently enjoying her days helping others adjust to and integrating in everyday life in America.

You can contact her at jennifer@alaivani.com.

It is noted that Jennifer also goes by the name Jayanthi, and the two names are used interchangably on this site.

Read a poem, entitled Alaivani by Padmini, inspired by the naming of this blog. Thank you, Padmini.

Hello Jayanthi/Jennifer Kumar,

It was by pure chance that I cam across your name and blog.
I have sent a mail to you just now.
I am thrilled at the fact that you did your PG in Madras where I graduated way back 40 years back (almost)

Would love to interact with you about Indian and South Indian food since I am foodie to the core.

Rgds

@BK- you mentioned your wife is from Kerala- are you a Tamilian or non-Keralite?
